Other than pleasing our clients in a genuine and thoughtful manner, tackling freelance issues goes beyond closing the deal– we have to get there in the first place. How do we get there? Produce, write, create, and– I think I mentioned this– produce your content! It’s easy when you have years, or even months, of published editorials and content to link back to in your portfolio. Without these, getting the right types of content, and offering the most effective impression to your potential clients can prove to be difficult.
Many times I have deleted original blog posts, fearing that my idea was much too hurried, lacking the proper care and cultivation of ideas. This is exactly what needed to happen. Providing an impression for anyone who stumbles on your cozy home in the land of the internet wants to be amazed. I promise– they want to feel something!
It’s our job to provide that unique, one-of-a-kind experience the moment their eyes scan our page. Once they are convinced it is worth their time, you can razzle dazzle with your signature literary techniques of choice.

Earth Day is all about preserving our planet’s natural resources; in that respect, we can do the same with our resources as writers. Whether your ability lies in research, creative brainstorming, rapid typing, or social media buzz, discover what makes you uniquely you!
How I Do It: Alliteration is my ally when writing. Using sing song synchronization in my writing can intrigue an intellectual and entertain almost any reader into sustained submission. Research is my favorite aspect of drafting, so I feature highly researched samples to clients for consideration.
Asking for help can– well– help!
How many times have we stopped and thought, “Where can I find someone who can give an unbiased, third party report on my capability as a writer?” If you haven’t yet, you’re in luck! Have a glowing review about your services. It is invaluable, providing your clients with information to reflect on and consider (besides their own experience of your work).
How I Do It: Reach out to any, and I mean any, mentor or client that you felt a particularly strong connection with. Letters of recommendation will never go out of style. Amazon shoppers almost always choose the product with more reviews. The same idea applies to your livelihood.
Challenge your boundaries.
As humans, we constantly tackle this inner feeling of wanting to be comfortable. I’m no stranger to a fulfilling day on the couch, rolled into a blanket burrito with Netflix and snacks on my lap, but finding ways to make your productive time more productive is simple. Simply shake things up a bit.
How I Do It: Reddit is a fantastic resource for writers looking to expand their writing work outs with r/WritingPrompts, r/OneParagraph, and r/SixWordStories as a few places to start. Imagine transforming an entire marketing plan into a six word phrase: you’ll be engaging more customers in no time!
